Welcome to March! For National Reading Month each child will bring home a calendar. We are encouraging someone read to your child each day. They can track this with an X or a sticker on the calendar.
Please return the calendars on April 6th or 7th for a classroom celebration of books!
This month the children will be reviewing colors and shapes. Please have them practice reading their shape book that they will bring home soon!
We will begin exploring the world of numbers. The children will be creating a Number Book. We will spend each day learning a new number, one to five. We will also be reviewing all of the numbers as we go along. It is important for children to develop a 1-1 correspondence when counting, so begin to have them count toys, blocks, vegetables, books, whatever is around them. When our Number Book is complete, they will bring it home to share with you.
We have a sensory bin in our classroom, this month we are playing with colored rice and cups and spoons. They are pouring, feeling and playing with the fancy rice. We are also celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Hopefully the weather will improve so our weather bear can take off some of his layers!
